Chiks Design Group was established in the fall of 2009, shortly after Cathi closed the doors to her downtown custom furniture boutique, Urban Home. Her favourite part of managing that business was the time spent getting to know her clients, helping them solve space planning issues, and configuring the perfect furniture plan for their home. It was a natural transition to interior design and decorating, working from her home studio for the first five years while she grew her clientele, portfolio, and the Chiks brand.

Working with clients of local home builder Harker Homes to select their finishes and colour palettes, as well as many residential clients on home renovation projects big and small, Chiks also ventured into commercial design projects: Ramona’s Pizza and Social Hall, Co-Work, Eastside Grocery, Urbn Liquor, Urbn Leaf (Grande Prairie, Valleyview, Dawson Creek), Ecole St. Gerard’s entry, foyer and gathering area, Holy Cross School washrooms, as well as some commercial projects that have been designed but not yet executed: Sheshu’s Sizzling Tandoor restaurant and Ken Sargent reception and client lounge area. Most recent commercial projects include a complete update to Grande Prairie's favourite hair salon, Art & Soul Hair Studio.

Relocating back to Calgary in the spring of 2023, Chiks continues to offer design services remotely, virtually and in person when logistics permit. Focusing further into design consultations, assistance with ideas and selections, design plans and renderings, Cathi continues to build client relationships wherever she goes and continues to work with established clients in the Grande Prairie area.
